We believe in being upfront about how we make money. This page explains exactly how affiliate compensation works at Honest Pick Reviews, and what it does — and doesn't — change about our content.
The short version
We earn a small commission when you buy something through a link on our site. It costs you nothing extra. We choose what to review and what to recommend independently of any brand or retailer. That's it.
The longer version
Honest Pick Reviews participates in affiliate marketing programs with various retailers and brands, including (but not limited to) the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and a number of direct retailer programs.
This means that when you click a product link on our site and then make a purchase, the retailer may pay us a small commission. The price you pay is the same as it would be if you visited the retailer directly — affiliate commissions are paid by the retailer out of their existing marketing budget, not added to your bill.
How this affects our reviews
It doesn't, and that's by design. Here's how we keep it that way:
- We choose what to review. No brand pays us to cover their product. We pick products based on reader requests, market trends, and our own curiosity.
- We buy what we test. Every product we review is purchased with our own money. We don't accept free products, samples, or "review units" from brands.
- Brands don't see drafts. We don't share reviews with companies before publishing. Brands have no input on our content.
- We link to multiple retailers when possible. When we recommend a product, we often link to several different retailers (not just the one paying the highest commission), so you can buy where you prefer.
- Negative reviews still publish. If a product fails our testing, we say so — even when there's an affiliate program available for it.
What programs do you participate in?
Our partnerships change over time, but they typically include:
- Amazon Associates Program (in the US, UK, Canada, and EU)
- Direct-to-retailer affiliate programs through networks like Impact, ShareASale, Awin, CJ Affiliate, and Rakuten
- Brand-direct affiliate partnerships for specific products and categories
"As an Amazon Associate, Honest Pick Reviews earns from qualifying purchases."
FTC compliance
This disclosure is provided in compliance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255). Where appropriate, we also include shorter disclosure notices within individual articles to remind readers of our affiliate relationships.
If you're reading us from outside the U.S., similar consumer protection rules likely apply in your country — we aim to meet or exceed the disclosure requirements of all the jurisdictions where our readers live.
If something feels off
If you ever read a review and feel like it's been influenced by commercial considerations, we want to hear about it. Genuine reader trust is the only thing we're building here. Contact us any time.
Want to support us another way?
The single best thing you can do to support our work is to subscribe to our newsletter and share reviews you find useful with friends. Affiliate commissions help keep the lights on, but our readership is what keeps us going.
